Well, it has been an age since our last entry, does anybody come back to check anymore? I doubt it, but just in case, Basil, who was given just weeks to live 5 or 6 months ago is still with us and apparently going strong, we know he could deteriate suddenly and without warning but he's happy and thats the main thing. Nothing has happened in respect of the resources website and if I cannot find the time to do it or get assistance I may regretably have to abandon the idea. Posted by Administrator

Regretfully I havn't posted to the site for some time. Unfortunately Basil has a medical condition and had to spend some time in veterinary hospital. Basil has end stage liver disease and the prognosis is not good at all - Three weeks ago he was given just weeks to live. Basil however is holding up well, he has no pain or discomfort, still has an excellent appetite and still wants and gets regular walks. The Vets have advised us of the signs we should be looking for in order that we do what is right for Baz. Positively Basil is at this time showing no such signs but we have been warned that this can change dramatically in a matter of hours. We carry on as normal trying not to convey our sadness to Basil who is blissfully ignorant of his condition. If you run into us on our various walks around the area please treat Basil as normal and as usual absolutely no treats for our dogs!! I will sort out the blog and the cleverk9 site but I'm sure you will all understand that updates to the blog will be infrequent and cleverk9 is now likely to be postponed until next summer since I have loads of research to conduct over the coming months. notifications of updates can be obtained by feeds at the bottom of the page and I will email news of the eventual launch of cleverk9 to those who have expressed interest by completing the email form.Posted by Administrator
Thank you for your patience.

How quickly have I reverted to my bad ways of forgetting to update the blog? I have been incredibly busy lately but hopefully I will be able to spend more time blogging and preparing aboutdogs over the summer although I think the launch may now be delayed. Its difficult when one has to write the articles, draw the graphics and write the code. I have not been doing as much training with my own dogs lately, but work with Rusty in respect of epilepsy alert training has gone really well and the little fellow is more or less the finished article. Hopefully I will get some time to do some concentrated work with the boys up at Windy Ridge this summer. Posted by Administrator

Taz has been alerting to Mathews seizures and movement during the night ever since Barney become ill and continued to do so after we lost Barney. Last week little Rusty gave his first night time alert and was duly rewarded. Not to be out done Basil also got in the act for the first time in all of his eight years! This appears to be a classic example of vicarious learning by a canine. I wonder why it took so long. Perhaps it was my fault in thinking that Basil simply wasn't interested or up to the job. Whatever the reason I am very pleased with the boys. Responding to complex partial seizures requires a little more discrimination than a standard Tonic / clonic episode but my three adapt so easily, it certainly makes life a little easier.Posted by Administrator
If only I could teach them how to administer the meds!!!
